Two very common ways of getting traffic from Twitter are following others and posting content frequently. When I got started I found some of the more established people in my industry and followed a lot of the people that were following them. This got me quite a few followers at the beginning. Now, I use twollo.com to follow people that have the same interests in me and I use twitterfeed.com to have content automatically posted to my account daily. When I follow people using twollo, most follow me back. When I post using twitterfeed, I get a lot of followers interested in my tweets. I use my blog URL in my twitter profile and it now represents a little over 20% of my blog traffic.
There are a few ways in increase traffic from Twitter. Create an account and start following at least 20 people to see the different things that people are talking about.
Start talking, even though it may be intimidating to start “tweeting.” Try to avoid the mundane, like “I just got up and I’m having coffee.” Instead share facts about your industry, links to interesting website articles and then just sprinkle in a little self-promotion.
